Beach dining at Chimayo at the Beach is
your best sand view restaurant for
sit-down, relaxed dining, cocktails and
an enjoyable atmosphere in Huntington
Beach. California offers many somewhat
affordable, upscale beach restaurants.
It's the beach so the dress code
generally remains very casual, though
shirts and shoes are usually required at
boutique-style beach restaurants.
Chimayo, Savannah's, is owned by David Wilhelm's
Culinary Adventures based in Newport
Beach. He and his culinary team bring to
Southern California approx. 9
restaurants (including four French 75's)
that offer flavorful, trend-setting
dishes, designer cocktails and great
atmosphere.
It's not hard to remember when
Chimayo at the Beach opened in 1998.
It seems like yesterday, in fact. Diane
Baker was president and CEO of the
Huntington Beach Conference and Visitors
Bureau, Pat Davis was doing her PR
magic, and Papa Duck was promoting the
big Duck-a-thon event at the Huntington
Beach Pier.
Chimayo at the Beach, Savannah's, brings unique
flavors reminiscent of a rustic South
Seas villa in a menu featuring an
eclectic array of Coastal Seafood in a
casual, colorful atmosphere. Located at
the base of the Huntington Beach Pier,
Chimayo offers a beachfront patio with
fire pit, dining palapas and palm trees.
Spectacular sunsets and ocean views, as
well as a gorgeous ocean view bar
serving a large selection cocktails,
martinis and house specialty Mango
Martini provide a great dining option to
the upstairs favorite, Dukes. Just down
the street from this great restaurant
there's also there's also superb Italian
faire at Luggatti's Italian Grill.
Restaurateur David Wilhelm, partner of
Culinary Adventures restaurants, worked
to create a menu with an extensive
selection of seafood. Salads,
appetizers, traditional foods such as
pizza or chicken with a spin and great
soups are all prepared fresh. But for
the fish lover there's a raw bar, sushi,
calamari, lobster tacos and fresh fish
from the grill, wok or wood burning
oven.
Open daily for lunch or brunch, Chimayo
at the Beach, or Savannah's, is a great place to meet
and soak up the scent of the ocean,
watch the waves, the people skate by,
play volleyball or sunbathe and enjoy it
all behind a protected glass wall or in
the air conditioned dining area that
will allow you to remain cool, collected
and avoid too much sun or being wind
blown.

John Martin, who grew Taco Bell Corp.
from 1,500 restaurants and less than
$600 million in sales in 1982 to over
25,000 locations worldwide and $5
billion in sales. In 1996, after leading
Taco Bell for more than 13 years, Martin
went on to become Chairman and CEO of
PepsiCo Casual Dining and was
responsible for overseeing the sale of
their three casual dining concepts:
Chevy’s Mexican Restaurants, California
Pizza Kitchen, and East Side Marios. Mr.
Martin’s vision was to develop a
portfolio of signature, upscale casual
dining restaurants in Southern
California.
