It's not difficult to impress us at BEACHCALIFORNIA.COM. Show us a nice resort on the beach with aquamarine, colored swimming pools cascading toward the blue ocean. As we stroll past private pool side cabanas, we search out our favorite restaurant, choosing between the Bistro or Spa Cafe. Bistro has a larger luncheon menu and offers lovely outdoor patio dining. But always doing things our way, we wander over to a small pavilion with a drink and liquor bar, which is surrounded by several tables with better ocean views.  We discover that we can order from the Bistro menu and have it served there. Someone else likes this location, too. Next to our table, is one with rose petals strewn around it. On the table for two sits a silver champagne bucket, two flutes and a bottle waiting to be opened and served. 

Unlike the romantic couple that arrives a bit late (he proposed and she said yes) and dines on chocolate, covered strawberries and champagne, we order Grilled Chicken "Chopped Salad" with baby greens, mango, egg, tomato, avocado, apple smoked bacon and pecans, lightly tossed with an herb dressing. It was so good, we'll try it again. Iced tea is brewed perfectly and includes our favorite fresh mint leaves and lemon slice. Delicious! 

After watching the ocean waves roll endlessly, we stroll along and discover a special treat, educational entertainment provided by Sid Yost's Amazing Animal Actors, appearing some weekends. A dog jumps and rolls on cue on a grass lawn with chairs provided for hotel guests. There's also a 3-month old African tiger that delights the crowd with its exploration. This beauty will grow to weigh 500 pounds and shed its baby fur for a sleek, black look. Sid Yost provides shelter for endangered animals. He has an educational, animal show on television and trains one of the top chimp actors seen in many movies and advertisements.

With weather that generally lingers around a comfortable 72 degrees, Sandpiper Golf Course next door, a beach, kayaks, spa and tennis on site, we have found our Paradise. Everything exudes color, contrast and class.  Oh, to live at Bacara would be so fine!
