Northern California's Redwood Coast is ideal for exploring with children, or alone and with other adults. The region not only features points of interest such as the world tallest redwood trees, it also has great architecture, museums, dining, nightlife, and beautiful, preserved buildings thanks to the abundance of redwood materials used in some of the Victorian homes, offices and storefronts.
One of our favorite attractions of this area is the redwood forest tree attractions, the lore and culture that surround them such as stories of Sasquatch (Big Foot), a huge, ape like creature some claim to have seen.
Events throughout the seasons offer the small town atmosphere in this blessed region that gets lots of rain (over 40 inches per year).
While the optimal time to visit minus rain is reportedly June and July, don't get uptight. We've gone to Eureka in the spring and fall, and loved every season. It's very romantic and the rain makes those redwoods so healthy.
