Alice's
Breakfast in the Park, Huntington Beach, California
6622 Lakeview, Huntington Beach, California (714) 848-0690
Alice's Breakfast in the Park
is operated by the Gustafson mother-daughter team. Long time
residents of Huntington Beach who once operated the Huntington
Beach Pier concession, End of the Pier Cafe, they have relocated
to Huntington Beach Central Park near a beautiful lake called
Lake Huntington. For over a decade they've served up thousands
of hot cinnamon rolls, delicious fresh baked breads and muffins,
eggs, omelets, sandwiches, fries, sodas and coffee.
Opened daily, the country
red building that's sort of shaped like a barn, welcomes guests
to a dining area and outdoor (al fresco) seating to enjoy
breakfast and luncheon menus. The ambience is casual and
environment is friendly and a little bit country. Lace curtains,
dollies, antiques and country kitchen decor make guests feel at
home.
(Pay special note of the
photos and tribute to John Gustafson. Once the family matriarch,
he was the ambassador to Huntington Beach. Riding a giant 3
wheeler bike up and down the pier, he greeted all who delighted
in watching this tanned man with a friendly smile, who welcomed
guests to Huntington Beach.)
Surrounding the outdoor
patio picnic tables are happy, healthy ducks who allow you to
pet them gently. They love to dine on Alice's bird seed that's
sold at the restaurant. Please be sure to feed the birds
only healthy seed and not food items people eat. Such food is
extremely unhealthy for the birds and the ecosystem and has on
several occasions caused botulism in the lake waters.
Parking is located in
the lot near Lake Huntington at Central Park Drive off
Edwards Street. Summer weekends can be especially crowded
with picnics and company parties, but venture down with your car
toward the cafe where parking spaces are reserved for restaurant
guests.
