Adelanto, California is a city in San Bernardino County, in the
Riverside-San Bernardino metro area. Adelanto is fifteen minutes
from The Mall of Victor Valley with over 100 stores at 1-15 and Bear
Valley Road (see malls list). Shoppers
love this shop-till-you-drop paradise. Also nearby just 30
minutes north on Interstate 15, the Factory Merchants Mall of
Barstow offers over 50 outlets.
Adelanto in the Victor Valley got its name from the Spanish word
meaning "progress". Founded by inventor E.H. Richardson, who
invented the Hotpoint Electric Iron, the iron rail also serve the
region via Union Pacific, Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe, AMTRAK and
the Southern Pacific Railroads serve the area. The nearest airports
include Ontario International Airport 47 miles away and Los Angeles
International Airport 80 miles west.
Adelanto weather features the traditional seasons ranging from
winter snow to warm summers. Adelanto's location in the high desert
at approximately 3000 feet above sea level and its average rainfall
of a minimal 5.5 inches, allows you to count on lots of sunshine all
year long.
Adelanto residents enjoy year round recreational activities,
including boating, water skiing, fishing, snow skiing, dirt cycling,
and more. With over 30 parks, Mojave Narrows Regional Park, 5 golf
courses and the High Desert Mavericks Baseball Stadium and
Conference Center, Adelanto is truly an outdoor sportsman's delight.
From boating and fishing at Silverwood Lake, Big Bear Lake, Lake
Arrowhead, Lake Isabella, Lake Mead and the Colorado River to
mountain skiing at the mountain resorts, Adelanto provides a great
home base for vacationers. Bear Mountain, Snow Summit, Snow Valley,
Wrightwood/Mountain High, Mammoth Mountain, and June Mountain all
offer great skiing near Adelanto.
Other recreational opportunities include hiking and camping areas
include the San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Sierra Nevada
Mountains, Joshua Tree National Monument, East Mojave National
Scenic Area, and Death Valley National Monument. Nearby fun and sun
areas include gambling in Las Vegas and Laughlin Nevada, and the
beaches of the Los Angeles and San Diego area.
