Huck Finn Jubilee, an annual event in Victorville,
California, includes look-alike Huck Finn kids, a fence
painting contest, and the largest bluegrass jam in the
world. Jumping frogs, hot air balloons and the arrival
of a small town circus at the Annual Huck Finn
Jubilee three-day festival is just plain fun and a bit
of tomfoolery. Families can whitewash fences, build
river rafts and climb a greased pole. Nearly all 1880’s
style contests are free to enter.

Huck during Saturday’s Huck Finn look-a-like contest.
Injun Joe’s Treasure Hunt, Kid Picker’s jam camp in the
Mountain Man village, Mark Twain Live on stage spinning
tales of Tom and Huck, and over 30 hours of bluegrass
and country music with top artists are part of the
entertaining fun.
A Route 66 car show, California State Arm Wrestling
Championships, hot air balloons and countless activities
and carnival rides that overlook the park’s two man-made
lakes and campgrounds make this the place to be each
year, normally a weekend in June around Father's Day.
Food and crafts villages offer meals and shopping.
Hotels located nearby offer overnight lodging. Parking
and admission for children younger than 6 years is free.
Mojave Narrows
Regional Park, 18000 Yates Road, Victorville, CA, is
surrounded by woods, meadows and lakes along the Mojave
River. It offers camping, horseback riding and fishing
for an outing suitable to the likes of Tom Sawyer and
Huck Finn.

You'll most likely be able to find something well under
$100, in fact. When we looked to book, we found a chain
hotel offering a price of around $50 per night. That
price will no likely rise in time, but it gives you an
idea of the low end of hotel accommodations pricing in
this California region.
