Scott
Williams co-founder of
Seaside
Ice rink in
Redondo Beach skates in the California
sunshine. Scott is doing his famous barrel
rolls. "I love doing barrel rolls because it
combines spinning with speed across the
ice," he says.
Scott Williams doesn't rest on his laurels
as a World Professional Champion and Silver
Medalist. In addition to coaching Michelle
Kwan to her fifth World Championship crown
and seventh U.S. National title, Scott is
continuously involved in all things ice. It
is only natural that when he was approached
and asked to be involved in an ice rink
venture, Seaside Ice, Scott would find time
from his busy schedule to chip in.
In
addition to coaching, producing & directing
ice skating programs, and choreographing,
Williams enjoys contributing to the local
community, hoping that kids who've never had
an opportunity to skate will check it out.
Seaside Ice in Redondo Beach, a new venture
between co-partners Williams and Tom
Kearney, offers a seasonal opportunity for
kids and families to see how much fun ice
skating can be.
With a
lifetime of achievement in careers as both
amateur and professional figure skater,
Scott Williams may be remembered for his
roles in Champions On Ice and Torvill &
Dean's Face the Music World Tour. Producing
Professional Ice Shows, he also founded
Professional Figure Skaters Cooperative,
which offers support and guidelines for
those working in the skating industry.
Recent creative works include the TLC (The
Learning Channel) series "Ice Diaries". As
creator and co-executive producer for the
television show, Williams' knowledge of
professional ice skating provided an inside
edge that enriched the content and quality
of this excellent program. A true talent in
many arenas, if you get a chance to see
Scott skate in the casual atmosphere of
Seaside Ice, you'll be amazed to watch him
in the rink. Scott's skating seems so
effortless, it's as if he was walking (and
flying) on clouds.
Scott Williams competed and placed in the
United States Figure Skating Championships
three years in a row, being edged out by
formidable Brian Boitano. The
competition organized by U.S. Figure Skating
is an event used to determine the U.S.
teams for competitions such as the World
Figure Skating Championships.
