Irvine
Regional Park in the foothills of the city of
Orange offers large areas for picnics, birthdays
and family celebrations as well as bike paths
and a well-kept zoo next to a beautiful Nature
Center. The park was given to the county as a
gift from James Irvine. The Irvine family is
well known in Orange County, California. The
land owners first made their fortune supplying
food and items to miners during the California
gold rush.
The park
itself offers a spectacular setting at the base
of a set of foothill ranges. There's lots of
parking, bike trails, grassy lawns, and plenty
to see and do.
