Encinitas Easter Egg Hunt Annual Events

encinitas easter egg hunt

Encinitas, a north San Diego County city, continues the annual tradition of providing over 24,000 Easter Eggs for kids to hunt for in the beautiful grass lawns of Ecke Sports Park.

While many cities such as Huntington Beach no longer offer the egg hunt, serving pieces of candy instead, Encinitas still provides the old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt free to the public. Many of you may remember the egg hunt of your youth. In the city where I grew, the eggs were filled with candy, and some special eggs contained prizes from local merchants. My best win was a set of car floor mats my parents absolutely loved.  Now, a kid is lucky to hunt for the colorful, plastic eggs filled with candy. So if you're feeling lucky, an Easter vacation in Encinitas awaits, where the hunt is on annually for kids aged 9 and younger to search for those eggs. Sponsored by the City of Encinitas, the event brings out the community and tourists visiting from far away places, to enjoy spring, Easter, and a time-honored tradition.

Encinitas, known for its beaches, surfing, golf, and sports, loves a good hunt. The people come out to participate in events, thanks to some of the best climate in the U.S. It doesn't get much better than Encinitas, in fact. That's why the hotels fill up during holidays, and the citizens rally around an event or cause. As seen in the photo above supplied by the Special Events official for the City, parents like to give their kids a hand by pointing to the hidden eggs their children may have missed.

Encinitas offers a year-round calendar of special events, thanks to the City, which sponsors many events such as the annual Holiday Parade in December, the Easter Egg Hunt on a Saturday before Easter, Senior Information Fair in May, City of Encinitas 5K-1K Run Walk in May, Summer Sunday Concerts by the Sea in July & August, and Feeling Fit Festival in October. In addition to the city-planned and sponsored special events, the Parks and Recreation Department is in charge of issuing licenses and permits for private parties and events that the public may want to plan on public beaches and land. ci.encinitas.ca.us
